Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulation for power electronics on a shoestring

We developed a low cost HIL for power electronics using analogue computers with op-amps.

There are some really sophisticated HIL systems out there for power electronics development, but only companies with large R&D budgets can afford these.  It is good to find a really low cost solution for the rest of the market.

The project started with finding out what has been published on the subject, and we accumulated a few articles on the subject.  From there we developed a systematic approach, using the simple RLC circuit that is a fundamental building block for many power converters and inverters.

Our work on this subject continues to include LTspice simulations, and eventually to produce hardware using op-amps for various loads, such as RLC load, transformer, induction machine, DC machine and others.
